About your 3D Scan

Any time after 17 weeks into pregnancy you may have a 3D scan of your baby which will let you even see it in colour. This experience is very exciting for the parents and creates what is called parent-child bonding time.

All scans are taken at the Baby Scan Clinic by expert sonographers in an appropriate, warm environment.

What to expect on the day

One of the best sonographers in our team will guide you through your first close up experience with your baby. Using warm ultrasound gel he will help you feel comfortable and relaxed. The appointment lasts for 30 minutes.

Using a sophisticated ultrasound scanner he will be able to create a clear image of you unborn child, also displaying it on a large screen.

Preparing for your scan

You don’t need to have a full bladder for you 3D scan appointment, but we do recommend drinking a pit or two of water per day for a couple of weeks before you examination. This is in order to make sure that there is plenty of amniotic fluid around your baby so that the quality of the images is greater.
